This
list is intended to identify all the Todd families in America and many Todd
families in Canada, Scotland, Ireland and England. It is organized as American families , then Irish, then Scottish, then English families.
There are 143 families identified as 5/26/2022 of which 85 or so are American
families. About 113 of these families
have been tested for conventional Y STR male DNA and about 50 have been tested
for the Big Y male DNA.
The
last column indicates researchers interested in each line. The DNA column indicates which families have
at least one DNA sample for their line.

DNA
studies (both the routine STR DNA and the new Big Y DNA) have enabled us to
connect American and Canadian families to their origins in Scotland and
Ireland. The Big Y test has enabled us
to show connections between families with similar STR DNA far back before
genealogical records exist.

d 1760 - remained in the county. DNA is most closely related to Todds of Aghaderg, County Down where the Todds settled in the
1600s and are distant descendants of the Todds of Fenwick Ayrshire. William Todd appears to have a distinct
mutation that makes it possible to identify his descendant branches,
including the Todds of Dutchess Co NY. |

leaning towards believing that he is the James Todd who appears in York Co in
1753 based on geographical proximity and time sequence. I have assumed that this James is related
to the Quaker John Todd but have no documentation of that. |
