CF-009
Research in 2008 suggests that John who married Agnes Shaw was the John McMurtrie
of Balwhirn, Kirkmichael Parish and the John b 1723 was an unrecorded birth. That
research also showed that John's son William is the William McM (CF 51) who died in Maybole
in 1849 and was married (1) to Margaret McCrindle about 1795 and (2) to Jane McClurg
about 1803; and that John's son James is the James McM (CF 9) who died in Maybole in 1837
and md Margaret McClure about 1795.
Further, brothers of John b 1723 included:
a. William b 1724, assumed to be the William who married in 1759 to Janet Campbell and
moved to Straiton by 1761 and to Ayr by 1777.
b. Thomas b 1728, assumed to be the Thomas who married about 1760 to Jean Corwan, moved
to Straiton by 1761, then to Dalrymple, then to Ayr by 1771.
