The letter from Andrew MacMurtrie linked his family to the four immigrant brothers and to the family of his nephew in Sarnia and his cousin Frank (son of John)in Philadelphia.

The notes from Frank were collected by Charles McMurtry of Media, PA and could be harmonized with Frank's testimony on the pension of Alexander and with the letter of Andrew.

The family seems to have settled in Pennsylvania prior to 1832 when Joseph was born and possibly prior to 1825 when Robert was born and then gone by 1836 to New York where John was born and then gone by 1840 to Venezuela where Alexander was born. The daughter Annie that Frank mentions was born and died in Venezuela, presumably in the 1840s.

By 1850 Robert was in Pennsylvania and John and Joseph were there in the early 1850s also

So the family was only in Venezuela for perhaps 10 or 15 years.

Though Frank says his grandparents were Alexander McM and Mary Monk, I have a note that there is a census record that shows the father was John. Perhaps Alexander was on the mother's father.
